A message from the great painter (Pablo Picasso), signed and written in Spanish, addressed to his private secretary the poet (Jaime Sabartés). The letter was written on the back of an original printed photograph showing a drawing by Picasso of a doctor examining a woman, dated 1959/12/18.
Picasso sent this photo to Dr. (Joseph Gavi) to give to his secretary with the message: "Dear Sabartés, here I am sending you this photo to give to Dr. Gavi on my behalf to see if he is advanced in his art. Best regards to you, Picasso, dated 1960/04/01."
A large envelope addressed to Sabartés is attached, bearing two purple stamps: "Editorial Gustavo Gili, S.a. Enrique Granados" in Barcelona, with ink stains, stamps, and postmarks.
Attached to the letter is an official certificate of authenticity for the signature and its validity, along with a full description of the collection (photo/signature/envelope).
The letter and signature were also presented for appraisal at the international (Parker Fine Art Auctions), where they expressed interest in the collection and requested to examine it directly.
Furthermore, the letter and signature were presented for an initial appraisal at the international (Swann Auction Galleries), where they expressed interest in the collection and provided an initial appraisal of approximately $5,000 to $7,500, equivalent to approximately 18,750 to 28,000 SAR, with the possibility of a higher value upon direct examination. Therefore, the asking price is 20,000 SAR.
