The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to recommend washing with sidr as a remedy, which involves mixing seven crushed leaves of sidr with water. Then, verses from the legitimate healing (ruqya) are recited over it, such as {Say, 'I seek refuge in the Lord of the Daybreak'} and {Say, 'I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind'} and the Ayat al-Kursi. After that, one bathes with it with the intention of purifying oneself from the evil eye, sorcery, and envy. This has been recommended by some of the predecessors, such as Ibn Baz and Ibn Uthaymeen, while emphasizing that the primary benefit comes from the recitation of the Quran and ruqyah, and that sidr is a cleansing material with a pleasant scent.
