The work accurately describes the daily struggle against hunger, cold, and isolation, building shelters, making tools, and searching for food, while highlighting the group's ingenuity and solidarity. Alphonse de Neuville's powerful and realistic engravings add visual splendor to the narrative by depicting scenes of survival and the islands' breathtaking landscapes. The book has 303 pages in French. Good condition of the cover and the book with a red leather half-binding, signs of use, scratches and wear on the corners and edges, gilded edges, beautifully decorated cover, gilded title and author's name, embossed edges on the cover. Good internal condition, scattered brown spots, the work is adorned with forty magnificent full-page illustrations, including a frontispiece, title in red and black, marbled endpapers.
