A rare archaeological painting (Virgin Mary and Child) from the 16th century AD from the Italian Ferrara school.
An exceptional museum piece dating back to the late 16th century (Late Renaissance / Early Baroque), crafted in the style of the old Italian painter (Appolito Scarsella).
The painting was initially exhibited and examined by experts from the renowned French auction house in Paris, Tajan SA. Their initial official valuation for the painting ranged between 8,000 Euros to 12,000 Euros (approximately equivalent to 32,000 to 48,000 SAR), as per the attachment, with the possibility of final, documented examination upon its dispatch to the house's headquarters in Paris.
Subject: A classical depiction of (Virgin Mary and Child Jesus with the infant Saint John the Baptist).
Material: Oil on original copper panel (Oil on Copper), which gives it a color depth and a luster that has remained constant through the centuries.
Frame: Gilded and hand-decorated with raised reliefs from the luxurious Italian Renaissance.
Overall dimensions (with frame): 30 × 26.5 cm, internal copper panel dimensions: 19 × 15 cm.
The painting is in its stable, original archaeological condition, bearing natural age-related oxidation and craquelure that enhance its authenticity. It has not undergone any modern restoration that would detract from its historical value.
Given the global auction house's valuation of the painting, the asking price is 35,000 SAR.
