And they cited as evidence for permissibility what was narrated by Muslim (2619) from Abu Hurayrah, from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: A woman entered the Fire because of a cat she owned, or a cat, she tied it up; neither did she feed it, nor did she let it eat from the insects of the earth until it died of hunger. They said: The origin of the preposition 'li' (for) is for ownership, i.e., his saying: (a cat she owned). And what is owned and beneficial may be sold. See: "Kashshaf al-Qina'" (3/153).
