The Sackboy series has been expanded beyond previous entries, and players can now slap, spin, perform vertical dash moves, carry items, and flutter jump, just to name a few. Moves can be combined to create combos that allow skilled players to cover more ground. Each level in the game features a series of interactive objects that require at least one of Sackboy's moves to progress. Sackboy also has access to multiple stages where he can use the new power-up feature. The Grappling Hook, now called Claw String, returns from LittleBigPlanet 2, allowing Sackboy to grab objects from afar. The Whirl Tool is a boomerang-like device that can be thrown to defeat enemies and break objects, and finally, Plasma Pumps allow Sackboy to soar through the air and launch energy bombs. The game does not contain any creation mode akin to LittleBigPlanet, but players can create certain emotes using collectibles. Players can customize Sackboy’s character through the Zoom Zoom store. Zoom Zoom is a mobile shop for small parts that returns after appearing in LittleBigPlanet 3. In his shop, players can buy new outfits, try to collect clothing, and even color clothing pieces. The outfits that a player has created can be saved and then available for selection when entering a level. The game is entirely easy to play by local and online players, allowing up to 4 players to experience the game together. There are stages in each world that require multiple players to enter and are specifically designed so that players must work together to advance.
