By: Alaa Abu Anas After years of work, I realized that most mistakes are not made in the management phase... but in the establishment phase. The idea, vision, organization, governance, and relationship with donors all begin before the project sees the light of day. Many decisions made in that early stage shape the project's features for many years. Therefore, I decided to dedicate the year 1448 AH to building a knowledge project. In it, I will cover the stages that endowments and non-profit entities go through from the birth of the idea to the sustainability phase, in addition to topics that I believe deserve to be discussed calmly, with a practical approach, and from real experience. Among the most prominent topics I ask God to guide me to write about will be: The philosophy of endowments, how the idea began, its Sharia objectives, and its development throughout Islamic history. Establishing endowments, the Sharia and regulatory controls that should be considered from the beginning. Non-profit societies and organizations, the differences between them, and when establishing each is the most suitable option. Non-profit companies, their concept, objectives, and areas of benefit. Family funds, their importance, and the mechanisms for building and managing them to enhance sustainability and organized work. Donors, the methodology for dealing with them, preparation before requesting support, and building relationships with them on professional foundations. Preparing the project vision, needs assessment, and developing a project study before presenting it to supporting entities. Governance, policies, regulations, and procedures, and how to build a cohesive administrative system that supports sustainability and enhances performance efficiency. Administrative organization, institutional development, and transforming ideas and decisions into actionable and trackable tasks. Institutional content, documentation, and archiving, and their role in preserving knowledge, building institutional memory, and supporting decision-making. Practical experiences and situations, lessons learned from real work, and what I have learned from field practice. The order of topics may not be fixed, as some issues may arise based on need or incoming questions, but the goal will remain the same. These articles aim to provide awareness and knowledge content, through which I will present to those interested in endowments, societies, and the non-profit sector, what I consider useful ideas and practical methodologies, hoping that this will contribute to spreading knowledge, rationalizing decisions, and supporting the building of more organized, efficient, and sustainable entities. I welcome every idea, experience, or observation that enriches this project, as knowledge grows through dialogue and is completed through the exchange of experiences. I ask God to bless this effort, to make it purely for His noble face, beneficial to His servants, and to grant me sincerity and correctness.
