Stoner Novel

Author: John Williams Publisher: Athar Edition Date: 2016 Number of Pages: 302 Stoner.. A normal life, an extraordinary novel. The author's talent is evident in his ability to weave a highly distinguished novel from a very ordinary life story, in his ability to craft the character of Stoner as a model that can be projected onto millions of ordinary people with their ordinary lives. He is a hero without heroism or its components, yet his life, despite that - like our lives - is not devoid of what is worth telling if there is a skilled narrator willing to immortalize it. Have you ever thought how miserable it is to be ordinary? To be led? Have you imagined that you might fail even though you might get everything you want? At every turn in Stoner's life, I felt it would be the turning point that would make his life more vibrant and passionate, then Stoner, with his excessive negativity, insists on making it ordinary, and fails, despite the gains he has achieved. How boring it is to be ordinary. The book tells you: Stoner was just like you, but he took a step towards death before you. All we know is that on his deathbed, the last thing he said was: "Is this what you expected?" From the beginning, I felt that the idea of the novel was beautiful, and the story somehow captivated me. There was something special about it that made you obsessed with it, unable to stop reading once you started.
