A rare Umayyad Andalusian dirham from the Umayyad Caliphate in Spain, which was founded in the cities of Spain by the Quraysh falcon, Abd al-Rahman al-Dakhil, in 138 AH.
This dirham was minted in Al-Andalus in 399 AH and is the first dirham of the revolution, known as the Fitna of Al-Andalus, which ended the Umayyad Caliphate in 422 AH due to infighting for power and rule among themselves.
For the Caliph who ignited the Fitna of Al-Andalus, whose reign lasted only a few months, and who was killed after rebelling against Caliph Hisham al-Mu'ayyad billah, overthrowing him and declaring himself Caliph. He is Caliph Al-Mahdi billah.
Muhammad ibn Hisham ibn Abd al-Jabbar ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hakam ibn Hisham ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Muawiya ibn Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan ibn al-Hakam ibn Abi al-As ibn Umayya.
A distinctive and rare piece, graded by the American company NGC with a very high grade of MS 62. This grade means the dirham is uncirculated and still in its original condition after minting. This grade is considered very rare and difficult to obtain for Umayyad dirhams in Al-Andalus, as most dirhams are in very poor and worn condition.
