If the mistake is yours, choose to lose money, not a customer
Every time you are faced with a choice:
Lose some of your money or lose the customer
And since the mistake actually happened because of you,
Choose to lose money.
An order went out wrong.
A request was delayed because of you.
An agreement was not fulfilled as required.
A product reached the customer below the level you promised.
Don't try to save your loss and make the customer pay for your mistake.
Fix the mistake.
Replace the product.
Compensate the customer.
And bear the cost.
Because the money you lost today can be compensated by a sale tomorrow.
But the customer who lost trust in you, you might not be able to get them back.
And the harder part is, they won't leave alone.
They might tell others about their experience.
The loss of an order's cost appears in today's accounts.
But the loss of customer trust can keep deducting from your sales for months without you seeing it.
And of course, this doesn't mean the customer is always right.
But it means that when you are sure the mistake is yours,
Don't argue to save a few riyals.
Admit the mistake, fix it, learn from it, and don't let it happen again.
Sometimes losing money is a gain, not a loss.
This is the cost of maintaining your reputation and your customer. It's precious, and you have to sacrifice sometimes to keep trust.
