A vintage kerosene (paraffin) signal lantern, manufactured by the renowned British brand Chalwyn in England. This company was one of the most famous British manufacturers of industrial lamps and railway lamps in the mid-20th century. This type of red box lantern was primarily used as a warning or signal lamp for railway workers (Railway Signal) or road workers to warn of dangers. It contains a small fuel tank with a wick inside, and is surrounded by colored glass lenses (a red lens and a white/clear lens are visible inside) to change the signal color as needed.
