It has two 1/8" NPT ports where you can install sensors, either by installing a gauge for the radiator water temperature or a switch to operate an auxiliary fan. Its benefit is if you install auxiliary fans or a gauge and want them to operate based on water temperature, without tampering with the car's electrical system or wiring harness, and without external extensions. You can also easily remove it at any time.
