Cisco ATA 190
The Cisco ATA 190 is an Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA) that allows traditional analog devices—such as telephones and fax machines—to connect to a VoIP (Voice over IP) network.
📞 Main Purpose
It converts analog voice signals into digital IP traffic, enabling older phones to operate over modern SIP-based VoIP systems.
🔌 Key Features
• 2 FXS ports (RJ-11) for analog phones or fax machines
• 1 Fast Ethernet port (10/100 Mbps, RJ-45)
• Supports SIP protocol
• Audio codecs: G.711, G.729a, and T.38 for fax
• Security support: TLS and SRTP encryption
• External 5V power adapter
How It Works
1. Connect the ATA to your network via Ethernet.
2. Plug analog phones or fax machines into the FXS ports.
3. Register the device to a SIP server (e.g., Cisco Unified Communications Manager or another VoIP platform).
4. The ATA converts analog calls into IP calls over the network.
